Ok so I know the new-ish Maybelline Color Elixir was a bit of a hype when it was first released, particularly by my beloved Essie Button, but I only got around to purchasing one shade from the range. Boy was I disappointed. Now let me preface this by saying that I have rather large lips, and lipglosses normally look kind of ridiculous on me--especially RED ones. I own maybe one other red lipgloss (from Dior) and I can honestly say I hate it and only kept it because of the packaging. #beautyaddictalert

Red matte lipsticks look great on me but theres something about a shiny red lip that makes me look clownish. I purchased this Color Elixir in Signature Scarlet because I had seen images on someones blog on thought that it looked lovely on them, the only problem was is that when I tried it on myself the color looked ridiculous. It was overly shiny, patchy, and overall terrible. Now, I haven't tried any other colors from the range but I'd imagine that a soft pink or a nude would look good, but i'm a bit apprehensive. Still willing to try though!

Do you like any softer colors from the Color Elixir range? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I love Glam 3 shade! But yes, these are super glossy and my lips looks bee stung with it. LOL!

  2. It's such a shame that this didn't work for you because this is my favorite shade from the line! The light pinks are sooo beautiful though!!

  3. I definitely want to try the light pinks, sometimes reds just look crazy on me!

  4. I would actually suggest trying the light pinks in this range, I have bigger lips too and these always look nice, I try to stay away from the more stand out colors too.

  5. ok awesome, will do! Thanks!
